Accreditation

Northwood Montessori AMI is accredited by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and AMI (USA).

Because the name “Montessori” is in the public domain, the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was begun by Dr. Maria Montessori to help parents to choose the best Montessori school for their child.

An AMI recognized school endeavors to adhere to the highest standards for Montessori classrooms as originally developed by Maria Montessori. It assures parents that the teachers are fully trained by AMI.

To receive an AMI accreditation, each school is evaluated yearly by the Association Montessori Internationale and is visited by an experienced AMI consultant every three years. These specially trained consultants observe in each classroom and then submit a written report to AMI concerning each individual teacher and the school in general. A certificate of accreditation will then be issued by AMI based on the yearly evaluation and the consultation.

Northwood Montessori School has been an accredited AMI school since its inception in 1975. We are the only accredited AMI school in the north/northwest Houston area.

Northwood Montessori AMI is an approved site for AMI trainee guides for observation and teaching practice.

Northwood Montessori AMI is also a member of NAMTA (North American Montessori Teachers Association).

Northwood Montessori AMI is regulated by the Tx DFPS.
